Slough U3A has a General Meeting every month; the venue is usually St Andrew’s Methodist Church Hall, Merton Road, Slough, SL1 1QW, but please check the latest monthly newsletter, in case of a change in venue.
The meetings start at 2pm, on the third Wednesday of each month. The meeting will usually start with a few announcements, followed by a talk on a topic of general interest lasting for about three-quarters of an hour. After this, we have tea and biscuits and there is an opportunity to get to know more about the U3A and to talk to the activity group convenors.
Visitors and guests are welcome at our General Meeting and there is no charge.
We invite a wide variety of speakers to our General Meetings – the aim is to provide a talk which is educational, entertaining and (if possible) topical. Here are a few examples: –
- The National Garden Scheme
- Great Ormond Street Hospital
- Curiosities of the Chilterns
- Forgotten stories of World War II
- Dick Smith, Beaconsfield Town Crier
- Garden Birds
