Walking Group

Updated on 02/12/2019

This month, things have moved around a bit because of Christmas. As a result, the Dorney walk, led by the Ramblers, is on the same day as the Eton walk, led by the U3A.

Here is our walking program for the next 2 months.

  • Wed 18 December 10:30 – Dorney – 5 miles
  • Wed 18 December at 14:00 – Eton – 3 miles
  • Wed 25 December – no walk planned!
  • Wed, 8 Jan 2020 at 14:00 – Eton Wick & Dorney Common – 4 miles
  • Wed, 29 Jan at 10:30 – Dorney – 5 miles

You’ll find more details of these walks below.

The objective of U3A walks is to enjoy and learn about the rich area in & around Slough. This includes rivers, lakes, listed parkland, nature reserves, and a number of historic sites, towns, buildings and churches.

Our walks generally start and finish within a few miles of Slough, the pace is leisurely on good paths, and the distance walked is between 2 and 4 miles over the course of 90 minutes with a tea stop. Many of our walks can be managed by someone in a mobility scooter (or can be adapted to suit). Please contact the walk leader in advance to discuss.

Anyone is welcome to join us for a trial walk, but we will ask you to become a member of Slough U3A if you want to come walking regularly.

For all walks, please check the weather forecast on the day, and wear suitable clothing. All walks are likely to be muddy, so walking shoes are recommended. For walks which are not near Slough, please contact the walk leader to arrange car sharing.

Walks led by Slough U3A start at 2 pm on the second Wednesday of each month, at varied locations. We also share a regular walk which is kindly led by Windsor Ramblers on the last Wednesday of every month in Dorney.

For more opportunities to go walking try Slough Healthy Walks or for a more varied program, Ramblers, the national walking charity.
